Wy’East Plaza

Scandinavian-Inspired Comfort

Wy’East Plaza offers a safe, dignified home for lower-income families while embracing a positive vision for the future of East Portland. This four-story building, with 175 units, features an interior design that balances cost-effective minimalism with warmth and comfort. Inspired by Scandinavian design and the Pacific Northwest, the spaces feel fresh, inviting, and market-rate, while being mindful of affordability. Soft accent colors complement the muted blue and grey exterior, and natural wood trims paired with black detailing create a cohesive and stylish environment. The community areas are designed to foster connection and comfort. The lobby is an efficient blend of circulation paths and relaxing spots, highlighted by custom art made from reclaimed wood from trees once on the site. The warm wood elements, including chairs and tables, bring a sense of history and connection to the space, while the architectural open staircase leads to a cozy reading nook with a plum-colored millwork feature and geometric wallcovering. The community room, with its textured blue walls and light wood dining tables, promotes interaction and a sense of belonging. Throughout the building, unique touches like custom millwork, hemlock trim, and special accent colors for each floor create a sense of identity and home. The individual units—studios, one-, and two-bedrooms—feature clean, modern finishes, including faux hardwood vinyl and terrazzo-inspired rubber flooring, durable yet stylish enough for daily living. The use of reclaimed materials and thoughtful design not only meets cost constraints but also ensures a high-quality, welcoming atmosphere for residents, making them proud to call Wy’East Plaza home.
