Vera 613 Washington

Hospitality-Inspired Healthcare

Our fourth clinic collaboration with Vera Whole Health in Spokane, Washington, Vera 613 Washington reinforces the client’s signature upscale, efficient model of caring for patients’ holistic wellness. We carried through the hospitality-inspired design standards established for our first Vera Whole Health project—Vera Country Homes—guaranteeing visitors will receive the same high-end, inviting experience at every office. As Vera Whole Health’s architecture and design partner, our healthcare team also used this series of projects as an opportunity to review their brand standards and real-life functionality of our designs, to make the next clinic even more well-organized. Every element of a Vera Whole Health project is carefully planned. We develop everything from the interior details like lighting and wall décor, to the equipment implementation package that determines each medical device’s location in the space to support smooth workflows. Unique to this clinic is the implementation of an On-Stage/Off-Stage design that improves provider and patient experiences. Supported by our thoughtful programming, everyone who offers or seeks healthcare at Vera 613 Washington should feel welcomed, connected, encouraged to collaborate, and inspired to take charge of their personal or their patients’ wellbeing.

Vera 613 Washington is no typical healthcare clinic. Our client’s model for care looks at patients holistically, believing that personalized treatment for well-rounded wellness is essential. The signature tenants of a Vera Whole Health project shine in our thoughtful design: Vera 613 Washington delivers a hospitality-inspired experience, collaborative workspaces, and programs that assist efficient workflows for the benefit of patients and providers. This clinic is located in a newly built facility, allowing our designers to concentrate their attention on turning a blank slate into the most efficient, beautiful space. All four of our Vera Whole Health clinics in Spokane pride themselves on economizing workflows, cutting down on waiting time, and fostering conversation between doctors and nurses. Workspaces organized in pods also support discussion amongst doctors and nurses. Clear glass divider walls enable sightlines throughout the workspaces, as well as easy access to medical or office supplies. Personal rooms also provide space for when staff need quiet time to reenergize. One key program for Vera Whole Health is point of care testing completed in patient rooms, which allows providers to deliver more instantaneous results and stay with patients longer to provide more personalized care. Our layout for Vera 613 Washington takes this smooth collaboration model to the next level by implementing an On-Stage/Off-Stage design—a feature not found at our other three Vera Whole Health clinics. With this program, providers can walk efficiently from their offices into the exam rooms and quickly step out of the appointment to consult with colleagues in central collaboration areas. Vera 613 Washington’s patient experience is also purposefully curated. The lobby features strategically placed geometric wood screens, modern pendant light fixtures, wood slat ceilings, and Vera Whole Health’s lively brand color palette. The space should feel familiar to patients who have visited other Vera clinics in Spokane, with a look and feel like they are entering an upscale hotel—yet still completely functional as a medical facility that needs to be disinfected regularly. High-end touches carry over into the circulatory spaces, like wood finishes, pendant lights, and large graphics. Photography by a local artist was chosen to complement the brand color palette. A white noise and insulation system buffer out distracting sounds to complete the comfortable experience of moving throughout Vera 613. The exam rooms themselves are designed to feel residential, as opposed to clinical. Wood cabinetry and flooring, as well as tile backsplashes are reminiscent of kitchens or bathrooms in a home. Simple patterned wall coverings and a cool color palette anchored by rich turquoise help patients feel at ease. Large room sizes and chairs make plenty of space for family members to be a part of the consultation. With four Vera Whole Health projects in our portfolio, designing a clinic around their brand standards is like fitting puzzle pieces together: it is careful, strategic, detail-oriented work, but we know from experience that every element will come together to create an ideal setting for efficient, upscale healthcare that treats the whole patient.
