Fox Tower Green Room

Staycation Mode

Long gone are the days of stale, colorless office buildings. Today, companies want youthful, lifestyle-oriented workplaces that help attract talent and inspire the people already there, even within high-end multi-tenant properties like Fox Tower in downtown Portland. The building owners asked us to transform a hard-to-lease space into a memorable amenity that every tenant could enjoy. Our interior design team brought tropical warmth and grounded earthiness to the rainy Pacific Northwest by creating a bold, staycation-themed lounge on the 25th floor. Called the Green Room, it offers space to relax, meet in small groups, host happy hours, and take in sweeping views. Inspired by verdant destinations, the design promotes warmth and wellness through grey winters and evokes a sense of new life from old structures. Neutral earth tones pair with textural washes and handcrafted light fixtures to keep the space inviting and laid back, while terracotta, sage green, and mustard yellow energize artwork, wallpaper, soft seating, and rugs. Bold, simple lines and shapes keep the aesthetic modern. Lighthearted details bring personality and surprise, including hanging rattan chairs, terrazzo, and playful monkey sconces and wallpaper. Large windows frame panoramic views from downtown to the West Hills, while daylight filters through a central divider made of hanging manila ropes, adding softness and movement to the space. Because it is a shared amenity, the Green Room is organized into distinct zones that support many ways of gathering. Communal seating and smaller nooks work for dining or one on one conversations, a mini bar supports casual hosting, and the shuffleboard and TV lounge give employees a place to decompress. A private bookable room with space for catered meals offers a more focused setting for small group events. By pushing beyond what is expected of a Class A office building, Fox Tower’s owners gained a one-of-a-kind lounge that meets real leasing needs while giving tenants an experience they cannot get at home.
