Landlords looking for ways to distinguish themselves in an evolving and competitive market are enriching existing amenities to provide higher-quality experiences. The owners of the high-end, multi-tenant office building Fox Tower approached us with the challenge of converting their uninspiring basement workout area into an expanded fitness experience that feels welcoming, fresh, and rejuvenating despite its remote location. The new Fox Tower Fitness Amenity celebrates a holistic take on fitness of both the mind and body—inspiration, activation, and peace of mind. Taking advantage of the psychological effects of color, we created a shared space that lowers stress levels while promoting creative thinking, designed to help employees disconnect from the business of office life upstairs. We doubled the size of the existing fitness space by transforming an adjacent building storage area, renovating the entire facility with updated equipment to provide a greater variety of workout options, from Peloton bikes to yoga. A sage green color palette accented by warm wood guides the calming the tone of the space. Glowing linear lights behind the expansive floor-to-ceiling mirrors echo the effect of the morning sunrise peeking over the horizon, an ideal time for a workout. These nature-inspired elements bring airiness and light to a space that does not innately have outdoor views. Painting the ceiling and its network of pipes a solid sage green quiets the visual chaos. Our interior designers worked with our Brand team to create a custom wall graphic, designing an abstract linear pattern inspired by fluid movement. The expanded portion of the space was transformed into a low-equipment and stretching area, thoughtfully positioned to work around minimal ceiling heights in that area. This space does not look or feel like the typical fitness amenity, designed to be busy, loud, or flashy. We intentionally went against the grain as we transformed Fox Tower’s amenity into a serene retreat-like essence that invites everyone into the experience.
