Modern-day banking has undergone a seismic shift since the days of the neighborhood branch. People want online convenience, but still value in-person experiences for major, life-changing moments like getting married or buying a first home. For First Tech Federal Credit Union, our design challenge was to orchestrate a completely new, innovative, and technologically advanced branch experience that supports the existing brand while remaining future-proof and adaptable. Through an integrated approach, we created an immersive environment that fuses the human element with ever-evolving technology, reinventing how people move through a physical financial space. The experience begins with people, not transactions. As visitors enter, bank staff greet them immediately and begin a face-to-face conversation to understand what they need, whether that is advice or a quick, simple task. The layout then supports the full spectrum of service, from fast transactions to thoughtful, private spaces for consultation. Touchscreens in the lobby invite participation through engaging prompts, while tabletop touchscreens sync in real time with large wall displays. Using language recognition, patterns and visuals adapt to each person’s responses, bringing a sense of personalization and energy to the space. Blending technology with human connection, the branch delivers a banking experience unlike any other, designed to be memorable, intuitive, and ready for what comes next.
